How is a tooth removed?
- The oral surgeon will start by numbing the area with local anaesthetic
- They will then proceed to use different tools, called elevators, to wiggle the tooth for it to become loose in the socket
- The tooth will then be gripped by a tool, similar to tweezers, called forceps, and removed from the mouth
- The gum may then be stitched to promote healing if the treatment clinician feels this is a necessary step to be taken
